3/8" x 1" Dowel Pin, Through Hardened Alloy Steel, Plan Finish, Pull Out Style (Quantity: 20 pcs)

A solid headless straight pin with a closely controlled diameter. Applications/Advantages: Wide variety of uses, including as a plug gage, hinge or shaft. Precise tolerances of dowel pins make them excellent for achieving proper alignment of parts in high-speed assemblies, or as roller bearings in bus/truck wheel housings. Important Note: Dowel pins should be installed by being pressed in, not struck with an impact force. In order to harden steel, the iron mix must contain a certain amount of carbon. Carbon dissolves in molten iron just as sugar dissolves in coffee. In through hardening steel, there is a high level of carbon added to the iron mix. When the component is heat treated, it becomes hard all the way through from the surface to the core, hence the term “through hardened”
