Early Hawaiians used Hala extensively in their everyday lives, incorporating materials from this tree species into their canoes, clothing, games, and houses. Hala continues to be recognized as an important resource within Hawaiian culture. Our Fine Weave Lauhala matting rolls measure approximately 4' x 8' feet. The weave is a 1/2" checkered pattern that will enhance your walls or palapa bar. The Lauhala mats are made from dried Hala leaves that are durable and eco-friendly. This matting is a perfect addition for your home tiki bar, cabana, or palapa. Our matting is hand-woven, has a one inch checkered weave, and may vary slightly in color. Installing Lauhala matting requires commercial grade glue, staples, or nails. You can resize your matting to any size to accommodate for your specific project. We suggest when slicing with a razor knife place piece of tape on the back of the matting to prevent fraying during installation. Sizes can vary slightly due to it being a handmade item. • Application is easy; the matting can either be glued or stapled to any surface. If using outdoors, a sealer is recommended. Lauhala matting can be used for either residential or commercial applications.
• NOTE: We recommend taping the back of the matting first then cutting it with a pair of scissors to avoid unraveling during application.
• Please note: Hala leaf is a natural material that is grown, not made of plastic in a factory.. Each Lauhala matting roll is hand made from natural plant fibers. This means that mats will vary slightly in color, weave size, and character.
