Purchased from a Red Wing specialty store in Chicago (1845 N Clybourn Ave Ste 7, Chicago, IL 60614).
These have a very high-quality black plating and are made of metal, so they have a solid weight. I tried them on my Beckmans, and they matched the upper's color very well.
They can be attached to all types of American-made boots.
For example, they should match well with "lace-up" boots such as Red Wing, Danner, Wesco, White's, Chippewa, and Wolverine 1000 Mile boots.
Basically, they are treated as "decorative items," but apparently, in terms of function, they serve to "fix the laces of work boots so they don't shift from side to side."
When re-lacing, if the laces on the right and left are different lengths, it's a hassle to go back and adjust them from the beginning, but using lace keepers will fix them to some extent. Please give them a try.
The "Est. 1905" = Established 1905 subtly engraved on the back is an irresistible accent for Red Wing fans.
