Kicking off our trio of demo team JETs this year is a standout piece! Last year, we procured a rudder from a former Blue Angels A-4F Skyhawk, thrilled to present it to you in JETs (and Air Drops) form. Originally found at a scrapyard, this rudder bore Blue Angel Blue paint and traces of its original yellow tail number: 6, the Opposing Solo. The Blue Angels flew the A-4F Skyhawk from 1974 to 1986, replacing the larger F-4 Phantom II. The A-4's compact size and agility allowed for tighter formations and more dynamic aerobatics. The team modified their A-4Fs with smoke systems and removed equipment to enhance performance. Pilots and fans alike adored the Skyhawk, dubbed 'Scooter', for its reliability and spirited performance. It was succeeded by the F/A-18 Hornet in 1986.
