The maps included in this case cover the Virton, Longwy, and Montmédy regions. While these were sites of early 1914 battles, they remained critical strategic zones through the end of the war. US units, including the 1st, 5th, and 42nd Divisions, operated in nearby sectors during the Meuse-Argonne offensive and the post-armistice march into Germany/Luxembourg.
The Contents:
●Original Maps: Includes the highly collectible "Carte-Guide Campbell No. 7" and detailed topographical sheets of the Franco-Belgian border.
●The Case: A classic three-panel "French Style" folding case in black textured leatherette. This was the preferred private-purchase style for AEF officers because it offered superior weather protection for maps in the trenches.
●Case: Leatherette is aged but intact with original hardware. The strap is present, but has dry rotting and broke.
